Steam Inc completes new shed at Paekakariki

Back in the glory days before 1967 when NZR steam engines were housed at Paekakariki, KA 936 is seen in the area where a new shed has now been built. (Mike Barnes)
Most people who drive past on SH1 won't pay attention, but we do - a new large shed has been completed in the Paekakariki yard next to the shed that was built for US Marines in WW2, later the RailAir shed.  It will be good if it will house the junk that has hitherto been in the open, this doesn't create a good image next to a busy road.
