1960 Chrysler (Plymouth) Valiant

The American Plymouth Valiant appeared in October 1959 as a 1960 model, intended as a competitor for the smaller car market, which was then being met by imports from Europe.  Among other things the Valiant featured an all-new 6-cylinder engine, the famous Slant-6, which had its inline cylinders canted 30° to one side.

After local evaluation in Australia, production started in 1961 of the R series Chrysler Valiant, which appeared in January 1962, and the Chrysler Valiant remained a popular model in A/NZ from then until production ended in 1981 (the last year under Mitsubishi).
