Dutch railways in snow

While people in the Southern Hemisphere enjoy summer, it is winter in the Northern Hemisphere.

Both these pictures show the class leader of the NS 1000 class of electric locomotives from 1948 of which 3 were built by SLM in Switzerland and 7 in Holland.  They had an unusual 1-A+A+A+A-1 axle arrangement which apparently was problematic in practice.  The last of the series was withdrawn from service in 1982. Number 1010 is preserved at the Dutch Railway Museum, website in English.  The top photo is at the old station in Hilversum, the current station there was built in 1992.

Thanks for the correction. That info came from Wikipedia, so much for its reliability.
